Dr. Peter "Petey"
Dunkin, controversial author and medical theorist, provided
the Bruce's College community with a wild ride as he
discussed his shocking new book "The All Donut
Diet".
A crowded Bruce Auditorium at first listened politely
to Dr. Dunkin's suprising theories, but when he started
passing out free coffee and donuts, the audience went
into a commotion.
Eager attendees, many of which were poor
students, rushed the floor. In opposition, a makeshift
coalition of health advocates, medical professionals,
hippies, and professional protesters tried to inhibit
and down right block access to the goodies. In the ensuing
melee, a seven-student pile-up occurred just feet from
the food. As some of the coalition personnel bent over
to help, the rest of the students jumped through the
opening. As the donuts started to fly, several members
of the coalition were observed turning colors as they
gobbled down the fried treats while making haste for
the exit.
As things settled, the remaining members
of the coalition complained about being given equal
time to answer and counter-punch each of Dr. Dunkin's
points. They did refer to numerous published medical
studies that would seem to dis-prove the claims made
in "'The All Donut Diet". Unfortuantely, very
few members of the audience were left to hear.
While Dr. Dunkin sure is popular, we would
tend to join in with the medial professionals and dismiss
such a diet.
